Soulful Finds
Excellent examples of soulful design, by makers, thinkers, designers and organisations from across the internet.
Aesop Jeju, South Korea
Aesop Jeju in South Korea celebrates a community of female divers known as the Haenyo, who have plumbed the depths to find food sources for local inhabitants since the eighteenth century. The bright orange structure in the store window is crafted from the Haenyo’s old diving suits, while an ample bench is upholstered in the same material as the divers’ fishing gloves.
Service Included
Some restauranteurs have begun to include service charges in their pricing after staff took a financial hit during lockdown, and are encouraging others to do the same. Read more about the initiative here.
An Artisan’s Story
We stumbled across this video by Our Lovely Goods - a short film following the work of one of their suppliers, Mr Joji, an artisan weaver whose skills have been passed down through the generations.
Hope and imagination
For some time, artist Morgan Harper Nichols has been challenging herself to create 100 sketches a day. Her work is uplifting, inspiring, and full of soul.
